Bates Memorial Scholarship |
|
| The Robert L. Bates memorial Scholarship
is awarded to an outstanding student of geology. It provides funding
for the winning Scholar to attend the Forum on the Geology of Industrial
Minerals. Students of the earth or allied sciences with Junior through
Graduate student standing will be considered. A strong inclination towards
industrial minerals is necessary. Nominators are asked to fill out the
attached form detailing their assessment of the student. An advisor or
a professional in the field of industrial minerals are good choices for
nominators. The nominated student is asked to send a letter detailing his/her
background, experience with industrial minerals, and professional goals
to the Bates Scholarship Committee. A paper presentation is welcome, but
not required for nomination. The Forum Steering Committee will select a
student, in consultation with the Trustees of the Robert L. Bates Memorial
Scholarship Fund, Inc., from a ranked list of applicants.
Letters of application and support should go to: Robert L. Bates Memorial Scholarship Awards Committee Questions regarding the scholarship can be directed to: Tom Newman (as above) |
