Sample Preparation
We have two sample holders for the Cameca SX-100, one that holds 6 1" round slides, and a second that holds two petrographic thin sections, plus two 1" round slides. So, if you planning probe work, be sure that your samples will fit into one of these two holders (see diagrams below). The 1" round samples can be up to 1" thick.
If you're planning quantitative analyses, your samples must be flat and have a good polish. For polishing insructions, click here
