This project entails making a structural contour map of various hydrostratigraphic units within the Santa Fe Group for the northern Española Basin. It is a continuation of the geologic model made for the central-southern Española Basin (Cole et al., 2010).

Hydrostratigraphic units include:

  1. Base of the Puye Fm west of Española
  2. base of the Chamita Fm+Ojo Caliente Sandstone
  3. Base of Miocene-Oligocene volcaniclastic sediment
  4. Base of the Chama-El Rito Member of the Tesuque Formation. Contour interval would be 100 ft. This structural contour map will be incorporated into a new groundwater model that Intera Incorporated is developing for the northern Española Basin.

This work will be done by Dan Koning, Senior Field Geologist, and is being funded by Ohkay Owingeh.
