McCraw New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources/New Mexico Tech Socorro, NM 87801 (575) 835-5420 http://geoinfo.nmt.edu 2004 http://geoinfo.nmt.edu/publications/maps/geologic/ofgm/details.cfml?Volume=90 The GIS project and map products included in this open-file report reflect a compilation and interpretation of geologic data for the Tome 7.5-minute quadrangle, located west of Belen, NM. This map is being released as an open-file geologic map because of hydrogeologic interest in the Albuquerque basin. Funding for this geologic map was provided by both the National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program (NCGMP), administered by the U.S. Geological Survey, and by the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Data depicted on this geologic map are based on field geologic mapping, compilation of published and unpublished work, and photogeologic interpretation. As with all NMBGMR STATEMAP geologic quadrangle maps, locations of contacts are not surveyed, but are interpretively plotted onto a topographic base map; therefore, the accuracy of contact locations depends on the scale of mapping and the interpretation of the geologists involved. Geologic cross sections are constructed based upon the interpretations of the authors made from geologic mapping, available geophysical (regional gravity and aeromagnetic surveys), and subsurface (drillhole) data. Cross sections should be used as an aid to understanding the general geologic framework of the map area, and not be the sole source of information for use in locating or designing wells, buildings, roads, or other man-made structures. These data were produced in ArcMAP v. 9.3.1. The zipped folder contains the map file geodatabase (Tome.gdb), the map file (Tome_v_9_3.mxd), and base map files.
