Bureau Technical Monograph Series
Memoirs
These technical monographs are lengthy, comprehensive, terminal reports of wide scientific interest and lasting importance, generally reflecting a lifetime of research and achievement on a single broad topic (only 49 memoirs have been published to date). They may include anthologies of works by many authors. Like all of our technical publications, future memoirs may be available in either printed or electronic format.
Bulletins
The most popular of our technical series, our bulletins include the results and interpretations of significant new research but on more narrowly focused topics, including the geology of individual quadrangles (often accompanying maps in our GM series), as well as anthologies of articles on a single topic. Our most recent bulletin, Bulletin 160, is available in electronic format only. Individual articles from Bulletin 160 are available for downloading free of charge from our Web site. Future bulletins may be printed or electronic, depending upon topic, audience, cost of production, etc.
Circulars
Circulars are the most limited in scope of our technical publications and are generally less than 100 printed pages in length. They are the best venue for publishing the results of recent time-sensitive research, for publishing data or other reference material, or for publishing information quickly for the benefit of the reader. Printed circulars are available at a nominal cost (generally $10 or less).
