Projected and real sections in Colfax county. This grid was acquired from NM Oil Conservation Division. The original shapefile included the NFS area of the Valle Vidal. For this project the Carson National Forest area was extracted because the National Forest has its own grid system which does not match up with the projected grid system from OCD. The areas in question are part of the Maxwell Land Grant and have never been surveyed for the PLSS and therefore both the NFS and OCD grids are projected into this area from some known point.
The purpose of this shapefile is to project a land grid over the entire Colfax county and provide a grid for locating oil and gas wells that are located by distance from section lines.

As stated in the Abstract portion of the metadata this grid system does not match up with the grid system from the NFS, Carson National Forest. However, this is the grid system that was used to locate the El Paso well data.
