La Cienega and La Cieneguilla Wetlands

AMP logo

Building on its basin-scale hydrogeologic studies of the Española Basin (2003-2010), the AMP is working with NMED, NMOSE, Santa Fe County, and USF&WS to help develop a wetlands restoration plan for La Cienega and La Cieneguilla in Santa Fe County. The AMP is conducting geologic mapping, geochemical tracing of groundwater, and assessment of water-level changes over time to ascertain the sources and flow pathways for groundwater sustaining the wetlands. Open-file project reports should be available in spring of 2013.

Funded by the Aquifer Mapping Program, the Bureau of Geology and the Healy Foundation.
