Building on its basin-scale hydrogeologic studies of the Española Basin (2003-2010), the AMP is working with NMED, NMOSE, Santa Fe County, and US F&WS to help develop a wetlands restoration plan for La Cienega and La Cieneguilla in Santa Fe County. The AMP is conducting geologic mapping, geochemical tracing of groundwater, and assessment of water-level changes over time to ascertain the sources and flow pathways for groundwater sustaining the wetlands. Project completion is expected in June 2012.

Funded by the Aquifer Mapping Program, the Bureau of Geology and the Healy Foundation.
