Associate Director for Government Liaison, New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Principal duties: Participate in administration, management and planning of the NMBMMR. Develop a list of contacts from other government agencies in New Mexico, and determine their geologic data needs. Actively solicit outside funding opportunities and cultivate cooperative projects with other government agencies. Represent the Director at meetings and conferences. Program supervisor for New Mexico Decision Makers Field Conference program.
1998 - present:
Assistant Director, New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Principal duties: Participate in administration, management and planning. Serve as Acting Director in absence of Director. Represent the Director at meetings and conferences.
1997 - present:
Senior Geologist, New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Principal duties: Field geology, with emphasis on mapping related to solving problems in structural geology, hydrogeology, and economic geology. Research in structural and Precambrian geology.
1993 - 2004:
Manager of Geologic Mapping Program, New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources. Supervise mapping and mapping-related activities at the New Mexico Bureau of Mines. Includes: 1) Project management and administration. Establish mapping responsibilities for Bureau personnel and contract mappers. Manage and track the annual mapping budget. Supervise two Geologic Lab Associates in the production and dissemination of geologic maps. Procure and distribute mapping-related supplies to mappers. Timely completion and distribution of contract deliverables and open-file maps. Act as technical and administrative liaison with the Geologic Division of the USGS. Organize and moderate the annual meeting of the State Geologic Mapping Advisory Committee. 2) Proposal preparation. Set up contracts, construct budgets, and negotiate fees with mapping contractors. Set mapping priorities, define scope of work, oversee mapping personnel, and coordinate land access issues. 3) Field management and technical oversight. Coordinate efforts of individual mappers in multi-author quadrangles. Review final map products. Coordinate production of digital geologic maps with GIS and cartography sections.
