
Phylloid algal-Archaeolithoporella-marine cement facies in Capitan
reef. White, curved strips are
oriented phylloid algae; white-gray patches are trapped micrite and darker
encrustations
consist mainly of Archaeolithoporella and marine cement. Outcrop on
the south spur of the mouth
of Walnut Canyon, just outside boundary of Carlsbad Caverns National Park,
Eddy Co., NM.
Coin is 1.9 cm in diameter.
