A petro-stamp that has been overprinted to produce a whole series of
additional stamps is this 1992 stamp from Azerbaijan that shows an
offshore platform at the center left. The unoverprinted stamp was,
in fact, never put into official use. A change in the spelling of the
country name and in national currency led to the extensive
overprinting and surcharging shown below. The final stamp
shows a second surcharge reflecting changes in postal rates —
virtually the entire stamp design is obliterated by overprints.

A specimen (muestra) overprint on an official overprinted stamp and two overprints
for Argentinian ministries (Ministry of War and Ministry of Public Works).
