Examples of petro-stamps overprinted for special events:

A Bolivian petro-stamp overprinted and
surcharged to note the 25th anniversary
of the Peace Treaty of the Chaco.

Iraqi stamps depicting a tanker here handstamped with an obligatory
tax overprint and surcharge reading "Aid for 1967 Flood
Victims, 5 fils" in Arabic.

Venezuelan Lake Maracaibo oil field stamps overprinted to commemorate the
first anniversary of the Revolutionary Government Junta (J.R.G.). The
stamp on the left shows the small 1946 date variety; the one on the
right shows the large date version.

A 1939 Colombian petrostamp overprinted
to note the 1951 reversion of the

in the Magdalena valley to

A 1960 Ruanda-Urundi stamp (top) with a small derrick and adjacent refinery
(see arrow) was overprinted and surcharged repeatedly to note the death of
Dag Hammarskjold, admission to the U.N., and creation of the new
countries of Burundi and Rwanda.

A Romanian petro-stamp (oil derrick behind the "M"
in Romano-) overprintied to note a friendship
treaty with Hungary.


This is one of six Romanian stamps, all depicting Capt. Crain's
airplane over the Ploesti oilfields, to be overprinted "8 June 1930"
in commemoration of the accession of King Carol II.
