Examples of petroleum symbols in coats-of-arms:

The Romanian coat-of arms during the socialist period from 1949 to about
1990 included an
oil derrick in the national coat-of arms (and thereby also the national flag
on which the
arms appear). The derrick is clearly visible on the first two stamps; it is
more difficult
to see on the second pair and is impossible to discern on many other stamps.
Collectors
must decide for themselves if they want to include such items in their petro-stamp
collection.

The arms of many Romanian counties, cities and towns also
include derricks and other petroleum symbols in
their coats-of-arms. These two examples are
from the county of Dimbovita and the
city of Medias.

The arms of the Azerbaijan SSSR include an oil derrick in the design
as seen on both a stamp and a stamp tab.

This partially imperforate stamp pair shows derricks in a
special type of coat-of-arms the design of a Soviet
medal of the Caucasus Campaign.

Stamps from the Turkmenistan SSR also depict derricks in their
coats-of-arms although discerning the derricks is difficult
on some of the issues.
