Examples of petro-stamps overprinted to note a change of useage:

A Colombian stamp depicting the Catatumbo oil field that was overprinted
"AEREO" to allow the stamp to be used for airmail service.

A Canadian law tax (documentary) revenue stamp
that was overprinted and revalued (surcharged)
for use as a gasoline tax revenue stamp.

Three blocks overprinted with oil derricks and gas storage spheroids (along
with surcharged values). The underlying stamps are
radio tax revenue issues
of the Soviet Union that were overprinted during the early 1990's for postal use
in Tatarstan. These issues, however, had questionable postal validity.
