An unusual printer's sheet proof of Argentina's first petroleum
stamp the Comodoro Rivadavia issue of 1936. The imperforate
proof is printed on both sides with a normal print of the oil well
well stamp on the front (above) and a partial print of the stamp
that lacks the background vignette fill on the back (below).
Apparently paper was in scarce supply at the time because
the back was also used to test print the 1-peso denomination
of this stamp set. Both side are overprinted with a diagonal
security strip to prevent misuse of the stamps.
