Photographs commonly are the basis for stamp designs, even ones that
are engraved. This photograph of an offshore Congo production platform
and a supply boat was the actual model (recovered from the printers'
archives) for the stamp shown at right. Note the pen marks used
to set the proportions for the engraving.
