Petroleum Stamp Essays and Proofs

Artist's die proofs were produced in several denominations for France's first petro-
stamp in 1955. These deckle-edged proofs were produced on heavy stock from
the unfinished and unhardened master die. This denomination was never issued
and thus was marked "non-emission of 70fr" in pencil by the engraver.
