These artist-signed master die proofs are for a 1977 Monaco stamp urging
environmental protection — the stamp depicts a refinery in the center
of the
design. The upper one is a first-stage proof (with 1er etat notation) with
partially completed engraving. The one below is a final-stage proof with
showing completion of the design. Both carry the artist's signature and
the embossed control seal of the French government printing plant. The
printed stamp is shown at the bottom of this page.
