The New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources is seeking a manager to oversee our scientific and general-audience publications program. We are a research and service division of New Mexico Tech (NMT) in Socorro, NM that acts as the geologic survey for the state. We are a diverse group of motivated geoscientists and support staff that work on a wide variety of interesting projects and we welcome innovative approaches to presenting geoscience information to both general and technical audiences.
We are seeking an individual who has extensive experience in the design, editing, and production of scientific and lay-audience publications. This individual will be responsible for developing a professional and diverse publishing program, supervising staff and contractors, and producing high-quality publications in a timely manner.
B.S. in Visual Communication, Graphic Design, or Media (or equivalent), and 3–5 years of experience with a professional publishing group, either commercial, non-profit, or educational, is required for this position. Applicants must have a proven record of producing technical and/or general interest publications. The individual must have experience in project and personnel management, and must be well-organized, meet work deadlines, and juggle multiple projects. We seek an individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of modern graphic design, visual design theory, earth science, and ArcGIS is desired.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
