Version 5.0 NMBGMR Open-file Report 462a (part of a 3 disk set) ******************************************************************* September, 2006 Prepared by the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in cooperation with the New Mexico State Land Office =================================================================== This project provides data about construction aggregate on New Mexico State Trust Lands. The original data source for the NM State Highway Dept. test pits is also included as an Excel spreadsheet (NM_Hwy_Dept_data.xls). The provided data can be viewed and queried using GIS (geographic information system) projects in two different formats. See the data dictionary below. GIS data and projects require either the free ESRI ArcReader software or ArcMap version 8.x or greater. Some maps and documents including The Surficial Geologic Map of New Mexico is also provided in PDF format and requires the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software 5.x or greater to view. The provided GIS data in the /basemap folder is public domain and was obtained from the NM Resource Geographic Information System Program (http://rgis.unm.edu). Metadata is provided as text files for each coverage (filename.met). The coverages related to mining and aggregate are described in the accompanying report. You can either run this project from the CD-ROM or copy it to your hard disk *** see the included report for a version history *** Data Dictionary for hwy_dept_pits.* (shapefile) GIS DBF FILE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT FIELD MEANING ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ID N/A Link to Excel Spreadsheet PIT_NUM Pit or Prospect No. TABLE_TYPE N/A OWNER Owner SURF_OWN Surface Owner SUBMITTED Submitted by DATE_SGN Date Agr.
