This section illustrates how standard symbols for point, line, and polygon features map to attributes in the geologic data model. The intention here is to assist digitizers and mappers in understanding how a particular feature should be coded in the model. A subset of only the most commonly encountered map symbols is presented here. New symbols will be added as they are encountered.

Point, Line, or Polygon features (links above) within the data model will be symbolized using our standard symbol set. This section indicates how standard features portrayed on a geologic map should be coded in the data model. In general, symbology will be based on the FDGC Geologic Symbol Standard.
