ESRI ArcGIS Software and Licensing

Use of the ArcDesktop and ArcPro software and licenses purchased for the New Mexico Four-University Consortium for consulting or work-for-hire is strictly prohibited.

Please have a look at the ESRI Institutional Agreements Tab on my staff webpage for more agreement details.

SOFTWARE OVERVIEW

The New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology is part of a four-university consortium that purchases the software and associated licenses from ESRI for educational and research use. With the software, Faculty, Staff, and Students who are a part of the New Mexico Tech umbrella can obtain licenses for classrooms, labs, and offices to use the software for education, research, and administration needs. These must be Windows computers. ESRI does not provide support for Apple computers.

If you are a part of one of the other universities in the New Mexico four-university consortium: New Mexico State University, University of New Mexico, or San Juan Community College, you must contact your local university administrator to obtain the software and licenses. Please contact Phil Miller (phil.miller@nmt.edu) to learn about your university-specific ArcGIS administrator.

If you do not hear from me for a week after your initial contact, please contact Amy Dunn (amy.dunn@nmt.edu); she is also an administrator and is a backup when I am unavailable.

SOFTWARE AND LICENCES FOR FACULTY, STAFF, AND LABS

Individual Students, Staff, and Faculty

On-campus (computer will stay on campus)

For individual's office computers Faculty, Staff, Researchers, and Undergraduate or Graduate Students with an NMT-supplied desktop computer, please contact Phil Miller (phil.miller@nmt.edu) to schedule the software installation and establish a connection to the on-campus license server. The same applies to a computer lab within an NMT department or research group; please contact Phil Miller to schedule the software installation and establish a connection to the license server. These computers must stay on campus and be connected to the NMT network to retain access to the license server. The New Mexico Bureau of Geology manages the license server, which issues licenses to computers on the NMT network. The license server will issue licenses across the NMT network.

If you do not hear from me for a week after your initial contact, please contact Amy Dunn (amy.dunn@nmt.edu); she is also an administrator and is a backup when I am unavailable.

Off-Campus (computers for remote work or laptops that are autorized to leave campus)

If at any point you will need to use the software on a computer while not on the NMT network, these computers will need a single-use annual license. Please contact Phil Miller (phil.miller@nmt.edu) from your @nmt.edu email address to obtain the software and your annual license. These single-use annual licenses expire on July 16 and can be renewed by contacting Phil Miller.

Please ask what the current version of the software is so that you can make sure your computer is on the same version of the software as the rest of the campus.

If you do not hear from me for a week after your initial contact, please contact Amy Dunn (amy.dunn@nmt.edu); she is also an administrator and is a backup when I am unavailable.

Students (personal computers to allow you to learn the software or for course work)

Students wishing to obtain a license for education, course work, or research can get the software and a single-use annual license for their personal computers by contacting Phil Miller (phil.miller@nmt.edu) from their @student.nmt.edu email address. These single-use annual licenses expire on July 16 and can be renewed upon expiration for as long as you are a student at NMT.

If you do not hear from me for a week after your initial contact, please contact Amy Dunn (amy.dunn@nmt.edu); she is also an administrator and is a backup when I am unavailable.

ITC Computer Labs

ITC manages the software installation on lab computers. These computers are connected to the NMT ESRI License Server to obtain the software licenses. To set up an ITC-managed computer lab, please contact ITC.

ACT Distance Education Smart Computer Labs

ACT manages the software installation on Smart Classroom lab computers connected to the NMT ESRI License server to obtain the software licenses. For issues regarding a Distance Education Smart Classroom computer lab, please get in touch with ACT.

Software Download, Installation Instruction, and Obtaining a PRVC (authorization for a single-use license)

If it is determined that a user would benefit from a single-use license, these are your installation instructions for ArcGIS Pro.

After you get your authorization file for your annual, single-use license, please read the overview instructions first to understand the process, then start doing the steps.

Reminder: The license issued to you will expire annually on July 16th, and will need to be reissued once expired. Contact Phil Miller when your license expires. The next license will last a year (starting on July 17). The license will arrive via an email from ESRI. Please read the instructions carefully before you start, then follow them to install the software and authorize your license.
