The New Mexico Geochronology Research Laboratory at the NM Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources is one of the foremost 40Ar/39Ar research facilities in the world. The laboratory is able to date most geologic materials containing potassium-bearing minerals. Samples can range in age from very young volcanic rocks to the oldest rocks on earth.
