NMT / NMBGMR to conduct aerial survey to map subsurface aquifers

Between November 16 and December 5, New Mexico Tech and the New Mexico Bureau of Geology will conduct a low-altitude helicopter survey along the Rio Grande Valley from Truth or Consequences to Sunland Park to improve understanding of regional aquifers. Flying about 100 feet above ground, the helicopter will collect electromagnetic data to help create 3D maps of groundwater systems. Flights will avoid homes and businesses and follow all FAA safety regulations; dates may shift due to weather.
