I am a Map Production Coordinator specializing in GIS and Cartography for the Geologic Map Production Group at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (NMBGMR). I work collaboratively with field geologists and other Bureau staff using my skills in ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator, and Global Mapper, to update legacy quadrangles, assist with graphics and figures, and to produce geologic maps for the USGS STATEMAP program and other Bureau publications. I also supervise our Geologic Mapping Group's GIS student workers and train them in GIS basics. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Geology from Western Colorado University, and a Master's Degree in Anthropology/Southwestern Archaeology from New Mexico State University.
In my archaology career, I worked for the Bureau of Land Management, National Parks, and Forest Service, as well as having been an independent contractor. Prior to joining the mapping group at the NMBGMR, I held a position at NMT's Joseph R. Skeen Library on campus. I absolutely loved the academic environment and student interactions that the library encouraged and supported. My current position allows me to draw on both my love of Geology and GIS, and to utilize my degrees and career skills in one of my primary fields of interest. I am happy that with the change in position I am still able to support and interact with NMT students, but now with a particular focus in this field.
I grew up in various parts of Missouri and Colorado, worked in Oregon for a short time, and have lived in New Mexico since 2002. My husband and I both work at New Mexico Tech (NMT) and I really enjoy living in Socorro. In my spare time I enjoy board games, movies, reading, being outdoors, and socializing with friends.
