About this image

The high peaks of the Taos Range are bounded by large normal faults along the eastern edge of the San Luis basin. The basin is filled with sands, gravels, and volcanic rocks from the Taos Plateau Volcanic Field. There is a very profound gravity low in this basin formed by the Rio Grande rift.
