The Save Our Bosque Task Force-How a Non-Profit Uses Science to Address Community Issues - Gina Dello Russo

— June 25, 2021

Join us on June 25th at 3:30 pm to hear Gina Dello Ruso from Save Our Bosque Task Force:

The Save Our Bosque Task Force-How a Non-Profit Uses Science to Address Community Issues

Abstract: The Save Our Bosque Task Force is a not-for-profit organization based in Socorro, NM. We have been around for over 26 years and focus our efforts on the Rio Grande running through Socorro County and on several issues important to the local community. Those include Rio Grande ecosystem function and health, wildlife habitat restoration, wildfire, invasive plant species control, endangered species, environmental education, and recreation. To accomplish our work, we rely on research and monitoring of the complex interactions of the Rio Grande ecosystem. From geomorphology to plant ecology, our plans, project priorities, and implementation techniques are informed by the physical and biological science available to us. I will highlight examples of how science has informed our work to date and a few outstanding questions we have where research and analysis would improve future work.
