Geologic Map Compilation of the East Mountains Area

figure
(click for a larger version)

The East Mountains area, east of Albuquerque NM, is geologically complex. Nine STATEMAP quadrangles are being compiled together to create a geologic map of this important area.

Vincent Kelly's GM-18: Geologic map of the Sandia Mountains and vicinity (1963) covers the same area as this compilation. Kelly's more detailed Memoir-29: Geology of Sandia Mountains and vicinity, New Mexico (1975) covers a somewhat smaller area. The new compilation will be significantly more detailed and is the product of more recent mapping at scales of 1:12,000 and 1:24,000.
