Water is our most important resource, but much of our state’s water is hidden underground. How do we understand the way groundwater moves across a large state like New Mexico? A novel approach to this problem is to use satellite-based measurements of how much the surface of the Earth moves over time. This new method has tremendous potential to complement monitoring well networks and track long-term trends in New Mexico’s groundwater.
